Wing Chun (chin. 詠春/ 咏春„schöner Frühling) ist ein (süd-) chinesischer Kampfkunststil (in China mit dem Oberbegriff Wushu, im Westen mit dem Begriff Kung Fu bezeichnet). Gelehrt wird Wing Chun in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz in zahlreichen kommerziellen und nicht-kommerziellen Schulen, Verbänden und Vereinen. Der Name der Kampfkunst stammt aus dem Kantonesischen, deswegen gibt es keine eindeutige Romanisierung des Begriffes. Aus markenrechtlichen Gründen und um sich von anderen Schulen und Verbänden abzugrenzen, sind zahlreiche Schreibweisen gebräuchlich, so z. B. Wing Tsun (WT), Ving Tsun (VT), Wing Tzun, Wing Chung, Wing Shun, Wing Tsung, Ving Chung, Weng Chun, Wyng Tjun, Ving Chun, aber auch gänzlich andere Namen, wie z. B. Taonamics oder Tao Concepts. In Pinyin, dem offiziell verwendeten Romanisierungssystem des Hochchinesischen (Mandarin), werden die Schriftzeichen als Yǒng chūn transkribiert. Techniken: Im Wing Chun wurden alle Techniken auf ihre Wirkung hin maximiert. Die Bewegungen sind meist kurz und gerade (also entlang einer Geraden). In der Regel wird keine starre Muskelkraft, sondern die Elastizität des eigenen Bewegungsapparates ausgenutzt. Dies geschieht durch eine Kombination aus Gewichtsverlagerung (Schritttechniken) und spontaner schneller Streckbewegung (Peitschenkraft) mit einem relativ kleinen Anteil eigener Muskelkraft.
