Wow. I thank you for posting this. I have been in a wheelchair all my life because I was born with Spina Bifida (a neurological birth defect.) I am 16 years old now. And I have always wanted to find a way to do martial arts. I tried Tae Kwon Do. But my teacher died of cancer before I could graduate from white belt. Thank you so much for posting this.

Dear friend. Excume my English.
I undertand you. I think that you love the martial arts and you are looking for somethink over there a kick, you are looking for the soul of Taelkwondo.
I know there are other martial art that you can practise better like Aikido (may be)
You should ask a goog sensei.
I practised Karatedo a long time ago, then a had broken my knee but always I think to go back. I propose you a solution. Good Luck.

THANKS!!!!!…… I have never seen martial arts kind of display or show off.. as I said it's been a part of me… I'm going back but I may change from TAEKOWNDO to KARATE DO as as I said now I am 44 and half years old… my bad leg (the one with polio) hardly can hold my body so it will be better karate do as I will be able to use more hands than feet…I know it will be harder than it was but the harder it gets, the harder I'll push..I didn't give up I just took a brake but never too late.

I train in Tang Soo Do going on 18 years. 7 years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. PD took my flexibility but I am still training. Go back, start training. It doesnt matter how high you kick as long as you kick.
Best wishes for you!

I practice TAE KWON DO ITF for almost 10 years…. I had polio on my right leg when I was 11 months old….. it's hard specially because taekwondo uses more the feet than the fists (the opposite with karate do)… I have stopped because it's a bit difficult now I'm 44 years old…….. but still I can kick and do the puching…. I'm thinking about going back…. still I feel it was a part of me I want to carry on doing
